Red Tails

Today I have been to see Red Tails.

The thrilling story of World War II's first African-American fighter squadron.

It's the Second World War , and racist US top brass consider the black airmen of the 332nd Squadron to be "mentally inferior" to their white counterparts. Stationed far behind enemy lines, the frustrated pilots are stuck with dilapidated aircraft and can only pick off the remnants of German forces. But US bombers are taking a pounding from the Luftwaffe, so Colonel A.J Bullard (Terrence Howard) is reluctantly given the opportunity to show what his men can do. Under the command of Major Emmanuel Stance (Cuba Gooding Jr), the squadron provides such effective air support that they are chosen to participate in the daring first raid on Berlin. Inspired by the true story of the Tuskegee Airmen, 'Red Tails' was produced and personally financed by 'Star Wars' director George Lucas. Thanks to his Lucasfilm effects team, it boasts some of the most amazing aerial battles ever seen on screen.
