An outlaw escapes from prison to reunite with his wife in this hauntingly poetic tale of doomed love. In 1970s smalltown Texas, Bob Muldoon (Casey Affleck) and Ruth Guthrie (Rooney Mara) are awaiting the birth of their first child. But this is no ordinary couple - they're dangerous outlaws and fugitives! The duo are apprehended after a heist goes wrong, but not before Ruth has shot local cop Patrick Wheeler (Ben Foster). Bob takes the rap and is sent to jail. Four years later, he busts out and hikes across the Texas hills to find his wife and the daughter he's never seen. But Patrick has anticipated this move and is waiting for him. David Lowery's strikingly beautiful and atmospheric modern-day western was the winner of two prizes at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Bradford Young's superb cinematography is matched by outstanding performances from Casey Affleck and 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' star Rooney Mara
