Pride

Unlikely allies join forces against a common enemy in this feelgood British comedy-drama based on an amazing true story. During the London Gay Pride March of 1984, activist Mark (Ben Schnetzer) makes a momentous decision. As a gesture of solidarity, he decides to form an organisation called Lesbians and Gay Men Support the Miners. They raise heaps of cash, but can't find any striking mineworkers who are prepared to accept it. Eventually, they make contact with a small Welsh pit village, whose representative, Dai (Paddy Considine), invites the activists to pay a visit. The stage is set for old prejudices to be challenged and new friendships formed. This rousing, fact-based crowd-pleaser in the tradition of 'The Full Monty' boasts a terrific British cast. Its ranks include Imelda Staunton as the formidable community organiser Hefina, Bill Nighy as shy and cultured miner Cliff, and Dominic West as flamboyantly gay actor Jonathan.
