Today I have been to see Mirror Mirror.

A sumptuous, funny, family-friendly new version of the classic fairytale with Lily Collins as Snow White and Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen!

A wicked enchantress (Julia Roberts) frets about her fading looks as she schemes to gain control of the throne that rightfully belongs to beautiful orphan Snow White (Lily Collins). She also plans to solve her financial difficulties by marrying a handsome prince (Armie Hammer). But when the prince falls for Snow White instead, the enchantress instructs bungling servant Brighton (Nathan Lane) to banish her to the forest - where a fearsome beast awaits! But our spirited heroine is rescued by seven diminutive outlaws, and they team up to thwart the dastardly plot. Reworked by great visual stylist Tarsem Singh, director of 'The Fall' and 'Immortals, this timeless Grimm bothers fairytale has never looked so stunning. Ravishing costumes, beautiful sets and lashings of laugh-out-loud humour for adults and children alike make it the perfect treat for all the family.

Today I have been to see We Bought A Zoo.

Matt Damon stars in a true-life inspirational comedy about a single dad who acquires a menagerie!

Journalist Benjamin Mee (Matt Damon) is at a crossroads in his life. Still in mourning for his late wife, he's struggling to raise the couple's two children - teenager Dylan (Colin Ford) and cute seven-year-old Rosie (Maggie Elizabeth Jones). Seeking a change of scene, he decides to relocate his family to the country. He soon finds the perfect home, but there's one tiny detail the estate agent has neglected to share - it comes with its own run-down zoo attached! Even with the help of head keeper Kelly Foster (Scarlett Johansson), they're all on a steep learning curve when it comes to re-opening a zoo full of beasts that range from tigers to snakes. From 'Jerry Maguire' director Cameron Crowe, this lovely family comedy is based on the memoir of the real-life Benjamin Mee, who bought a zoo on Dartmoor.

Tonight I have been to see The Hunger Games.

There can be only one teenage survivor in this thrilling televised battle set in a cruel future USA!

Following the collapse of the United States in the not-too distant future, the new nation of Panem has arisen. To keep its population under control, the government organises a brutal annual contest. Each of Panem's 12 districts selects a boy and a girl aged between 12 and 18 to participate in a televised fight to the death! Taking the place of her younger sister, 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to become District 12's female 'tribute'. Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) is selected as her male counterpart. Training them for their ordeal is Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson), a drunken survivor of a previous contest. Adapted by Suzanne Collins from the first book in her bestselling Hunger Games young adult novel trilogy, this compelling action-romance boasts another terrifically tough performance by 'Winter's Bone' star Jennifer Lawrence.

This Means War

Last night I went to see This Means War.

Two CIA agents fight over the same woman in an explosive, stunt-filled action-comedy.

Star Trek's Chris Pine and versatile British star Tom Hardy play a pair of top CIA agents who are at the top of their game. They work hard, play hard and are the best of buddies. But then they discover they're both dating the same attractive blonde - Lauren Scott (Reese Witherspoon). Now the gloves are off as these two ultra-competitive alpha males set out to win two-timing Lauren's heart without revealing to her that they know each other! And anything goes in this spy versus spy contest, as both of them have access to all the high-tech toys their Agency has to offer. Action king McG, who gave us 'Terminator Salvation' and the Charlie's Angels movies, pulls out all the stops as these two deadly agents who are used to bringing down nations turn their impressive firepower on each other.

Safe House

Tonight I have been to see Safe House at Stockport Cineworld.

Denzel Washington plays a cunning rogue agent in this adrenalin-fuelled action thriller.

As the rookie in charge of the CIA's safe house in a Cape Town backwater, Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds) is frustrated. He craves promotion from 'housekeeper' to fully-fledged agent, but knows he'll never get this without field experience. Then all of Matt's Christmases come at once, or so it seems, when he receives an unexpected 'guest' - Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington), reportedly the most dangerous man in the world. On the run for nearly a decade and wanted in 36 countries, this rogue agent has been selling secrets to the highest bidder. But as soon as Frost is brought in for debriefing, mercenaries burst in and smash up the safe house. The duo barely escape with their lives. On the run, it's now up to Weston to figure out who wants them dead - terrorists or someone inside the Agency with something to hide?

The Muppets

Today I have been to see The Muppets.

"It's time to play the music" as the Muppets return with a hilarious adventure to delight fans old and new!

Twelve years after their last big-screen adventure, the Muppets have gone their separate ways. Kermit lives in a mansion with his '80s robot. Fozzie ekes out a living as leader of feeble counterfeit troupe The Moopets. And Miss Piggy is Plus-Size Editor for Vogue in Paris. But not everybody has forgotten The Muppets. Super-fan Walter is overjoyed to visit the Muppet theatre in LA with his brother Gary (Jason Segel) and Gary's girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams). But when they find that evil oil tycoon Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) is planning to demolish the run-down old place, the race is on to save it by re-uniting the gang for a telethon. British director James Bobin, of 'Flight of the Conchords' fame, breathes new life into Jim Henson's creation with this hugely enjoyable and playful romp.
