One Day

Tonight I have been to see One Day.
Based on the phenomenal bestseller, Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess star in a love story spanning 20 years.
On 15 July 1988, University friends Emma (Anne Hathaway) and Dexter (Jim Sturgess) graduate and go their separate ways. Their lives - and loves - take radically different directions, but they've forged a bond that's destined to last. Over the next two decades, we revisit Em and Dex on the anniversary of their graduation - but will they share a happy ending? Author David Nicholls previously wrote 'Starter For 10', adapted for the screen in 2006. His later novel, 'One Day', was a critically acclaimed bestseller, which he's adapted himself for this film version. Fans of the book will be delighted to find that Danish director Lone Scherfig's follow up to her Oscar-nominated 'An Education' retains the all-important UK setting. And as she previously demonstrated in 'Becoming Jane', US star Anne Hathaway is a dab hand at the English accent.

Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes

Tonight I have been to see Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes.
Super-intelligent apes declare war on earth's human masters in this thrilling return to the classic franchise!
Scientist Will Rodman (James Franco) develops a revolutionary therapy that enables the brain to repair itself, offering hope to millions of people with a variety of debilitating conditions. But before his discovery can be marketed to humans, he's told to test it on chimpanzees. To be certain the treatment is stable, he begins with just one animal. Then something unexpected happens. Baby chimp Caesar swiftly develops advanced mental abilities. As Will's employers seek to contain the experiment, Caesar's simian mind turns to thoughts of revolution. Pierre Boulle's 1963 novel gave rise to five films in the '60s and '70s (including the 1968 classic 'Planet Of The Apes'), a hit TV series, and Tim Burton's 2001 remake. For this latest version, digital technology has advanced so far that the Oscar-winning WETA effects house have produced a legion of stunningly convincing photo-realistic apes!

Mr Popper's Penguins

Tonight I have been to see Mr Popper's Penguins
Jim Carrey stars in a family comedy about a man whose home - and life - get taken over by penguins!
Tom Popper (Jim Carrey) is a stressed-out businessman who one day learns he's inherited six penguins. Trouble is, Tom lives in a swanky New York apartment. It's not long before his new chums are creating a mess, sleeping in his bed and generally making it difficult for Tom to find time to go to work. The solution is obvious, isn't it? Turn that apartment into a snowy winter wonderland for new friends Loudy, Lovey, Bitey, Nimrod, Captain and Stinky. But Tom's snooty neighbours are less than enthusiastic about his cosseted menagerie. 'Mr Popper's Penguins' is based on the 1938 book by Richard and Florence Atwater, which has delighted generations of children. The film combines two sure-fire box office winners - Jim Carrey and penguins. And yes, you do get to see them dance!

Zookeeper

Tonight I have been to see Zookeeper.
Family comedy about a bunch of zoo animals who speak up to help their favourite keeper's love life!
When slobby Griffin Keyes (Kevin James) proposed to the lovely Stephanie (Leslie Bibb), she turned him down because she couldn't stand the thought of him working as a zookeeper. Five years on, lonely Griffin gets a second chance. Offered a new job in a car dealership, which he's assured is a shortcut to impressing the ladies, he sets out to woo Kate once again. But Griffin reckons without the animals of the Franklin Park Zoo, who aren't about to lose the world's most devoted zookeeper without a fight. So they decide to speak up. And once they start talking, they simply won't stop! What's more, the zookeeper's beastly chums are eager to share the details of their mating rituals. Soon Griffin's putting these tips to good use - but will he succeed or make an ass of himself?

Super 8

This afternoon in Llandudno I have been to see Super 8.
A group of young friends making a super 8 film witness a spectacular event that changes their lives forever in this thrilling yet heart-warming blockbuster.
In the summer of 1979, young Joe Lamb (Joel Courtney) and his school friends are making a super 8 zombie movie in their small Ohio town. While shooting, they witness a catastrophic collision between a truck and a speeding train. Barely escaping themselves, the teens soon discover that what they saw was no accident. Questions about the train's mysterious cargo arise as the town is plagued by animal and human disappearances and a series of inexplicable events. Joe's father, local Deputy Jack Lamb (Kyle Chandler), challenges the military authorities as he launches an investigation. But the truth turns out to be far more astonishing than anyone could have imagined. Two of the greatest creative minds in modern filmmaking - writer/director JJ Abrams and producer Steven Spielberg - have joined forces to deliver one of the most eagerly-anticipated and original films of the summer blockbuster season.

2D - Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows PT 2

This Afternoon in Llandudno I have been to see Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows in 2D.

The wait is over - Harry Potter's amazing adventure concludes!
The thrilling, epic climax to the most lucrative film franchise of all time. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint) have embarked on a quest to find and destroy the Horcruxes that would give evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) immortality. In Part 1, this kept the trio away from Hogwarts for what was supposed to be their final year, during which time they also uncovered the secret of the Deathly Hallows: the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone and the Cloak of Invisibility. But now Voldemort has raised the stakes by acquiring the unbeatable Elder Wand and is about to launch a full assault on Hogwarts. The trio's only hope is to find and destroy the remaining Horcruxes. Returning to Hogwarts, they prepare for a last stand against the forces of darkness threatening the Muggles and Wizarding worlds alike.
